Linux / Fedora install notes

Field notes for Node lines, Ghidra+JDK, browsers, and Fedora-family host quirks.

Node

Match upstream’s supported Node lines (commonly 22.x / 24.x / 26+). Electron/JS targets are sensitive to that floor — do not assume system Node 18 is enough.

Ghidra + JDK

Pair a documented Ghidra release with a full Temurin (or equivalent) JDK 21+. Export GHIDRA_INSTALL_DIR and JAVA_HOME, then doctor --provider ghidra.

Browser tools

If page inspection cannot find Chrome/Chromium, set REA_BROWSER_EXECUTABLE to an absolute binary. Some Chromium builds report opaque placeholder URLs in frame trees — upgrade REA/browser when frame discovery fails.

Host distros

Fedora-based spins (including Nobara) have been reported as unsupported_host in older builds; check whether your REA version still gates that way before filing duplicates. Optional reverse tooling (pwntools, etc.) belongs in its own venv — REA setup will not replace your distro packages.
